Women's Lacrosse Canisius College Athletics

Campus Chronicles with Lisa Foligno

It's 1:34 p.m. on Thursday, March 20 and we're now boarding the Niagara Scenic charter bus to begin the women's lacrosse Spring break trip. Tagging along with me, you'll see what it's like to be a student-athlete on a women's lacrosse team, oh what fun!

First Stop was Bethlehem, Pa. On the way there, we watched Frailty, Good Luck Chuck, and Hairspray (honestly not the best movie selection) and stopped in at the Olive Garden to eat dinner. We got to the hotel at 9 p.m. Own rooms at 10, lights out at 10:30 p.m.

On Friday we advanced our winning streak to four games and beat Lehigh University, 13-12 in overtime. It was a nail biter, we were all going crazy, and it felt good to beat them. After the game, we boarded the bus for Falls Church, Va. On the way there, we finished watching Hairspray and also watched Enchanted and the beginning of High School Musical 2. I have no idea how we could have ever watched three musicals in a row, but we did and needless to say we were all a singing bunch when it was over. We had a little birthday celebration at the hotel for Ashley Gray, who turned 21 today, and then it was in your own rooms at 10 with lights out at 10:30 p.m

Saturday we headed to Washington, D.C. to play Howard University. We beat them 22-6, putting us on a five-game winning streak!

Sunday: Happy Easter! This was an off day. We all went to church at 8:30 a.m. then went into Washington D.C. to sight-see. It was very cool. We went to the Holocaust Museum, saw the Hope Diamond, Ford's Theater, the White House, the reflection pool and all the memorials. You know, the usual when you visit Washington D.C?Next stop was Annapolis, Md.

On Monday, we had practice at Navy from 1-3 p.m. After we got returned from practice, we showered and went to the Macaroni Grille for dinner. Curfew is at 10 with game tomorrow versus Navy.

Tuesday was the last day of the trip. Unfortunately we could not pull off the win against Navy. We lost 15-12 in a game that should have been ours. It's a seven-hour bus ride home and there isn't much noise on this bus. We watched Dan in Real Life, Stomp the Yard and Love and Basketball on the way home. Last stop now is home to Buffalo, after a long stretch of lacrosse. Our next competition is against UC Davis on Friday.
