Kowalski's took a clean pass from senior Rebecca Shupe and chipped the ball into the net. The ball rolled past Siena keeper Lauren Ettinger for the game-winning goal.

Siena recorded 14 shots against Pettinari through 90 minutes, including three shots in the last nine minutes of the game.

“It feels great when you're 2-0 in the MAAC,"
said Canisius coach Jim Wendling. "This is a good win against a really good Siena team, which has been hot all season long. The game was won with a team effort in defending. We played smart and we worked hard.”

The Griffs return to action on Friday, Oct. 10 at conference rival Iona. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
