Women's Soccer Falls in Season Finale

The Canisius College women's soccer team wrapped up its 2007 season, falling to Marist, 3-0. The Griffs end the season with a 6-10-2 record and 3-5-1 in conference play.

Sophomore Daniella Pettinari (right) recorded a career-best nine saves in the defeat. Pettinari finished the season with a 1.20 goals against average, the second-highest total in school history.

The Red Foxes struck with three early first-half goals to earn the victory. Merrilynn Esteve scored in the seventh minute and Teresa Ferraro added goals in the 15th and 18th minute.

Marist (10-4-3, 7-1-1) had a 18-6 advantage in shots and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.

The game also marked the final contest for seniors Amanda Janosky, Stephanie Karst, Carly McGunnigle and Lisa Nicholas.

Game Notes: Janosky finished her career ranked seventh in school history with 60 career points, fourth with 26 career goals and fourth with five career game-winning goals ... Karst finished her career ranked 10th in school history with 51 career points, ninth with 19 career goals, 10th with 13 career assists and second with six career game-winning goals.
