Women's Soccer Edged by Siena

The Canisius College women's soccer team lost a hard fought battle, falling to Siena, 1-0, in a Friday matinee game. The Griffs now stand at 6-9-2 and 3-4-1 in conference play while Siena improved to 8-8-1 and 5-3-0 against MAAC competition.

The Saints took advantage of a late corner kick to score the decisive goal. Chelsea Maguire took a corner kick with just over five minutes remaining in the game. Off the corner, the ball found its way into the goal for the game's only score.

Sophomore Daniella Pettinari (right) posted two saves in goal for the Griffs. Saints' goalie Patti Carroll also posted two saves in the victory.

Canisius wraps up conference play on Sunday, squaring off at Marist. Game time is schedule for 1 p.m.

Game Notes: Siean outshot the Griffs, 12-6 ... Senior Amanda Janosky led Canisius with four shots, including both of the Griffs' shots on goal ... Canisius fell to 6-12-0 all-time against Siena ... The one-goal loss was the smallest deficit in the series since 2000.
