LoCoco Signs NLI for Men's Lacrosse

Canisius College men's lacrosse coach Randy Mearns announced the signing of Nicholas LoCoco (Liverpool, N.Y.) to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Griffins starting with the 2008 season.

“I am very excited to have Nick join our program. He is an incredible offensive talent that has the capability to contribute to our lacrosse program immediately,” Mearns said. “Nick is an impact player, and he's an important piece of the Canisius puzzle that will move this program in a positive direction.”

LoCoco has led Class A Section III in scoring and goals during his sophomore and junior seasons while playing for Cicero North Syracuse High School. Last season, LoCoco had 49 goals and 59 assists.
A two-time participant in the Empire State Games, LoCoco was the leading scorer among all teams in the 2005 competition when his team won the silver medal.

LoCoco earned first-team all-league honors the past two seasons, second-team all-Central New York honors as a sophomore and first-team all-CNY honors as a junior.

Canisius claimed its first-ever regular-season MAAC title in 2006, tying for the crown with Providence and Mount St. Mary's. The Griffs qualified for the postseason for the third time in four seasons and return 25 letterwinners from their 2006 squad.
