After spending seven years as an assistant athletic trainer on the Canisius sports medicine staff, Kristen Saviola was promoted to the role of director of sports medicine in July 2025.
In her role, Saviola oversees the Canisius University sports medicine staff and she serves as the athletic trainer for the school's men's basketball, golf, women's lacrosse and club sports programs.
Saviola returned to Main Street in August 2018 after spending time at Catholic Health and UBMD Orthopedics & Sport Medicine.
During her professional career, Saviola was the head athletic trainer at Eden High School where she prevented, assessed and treated student-athletes from 48 varsity, junior varsity and modified sports teams.
Saviola has also worked for local colleges, high schools, club teams and community events such as the Jim Kelly Football Camp, where she has been an athletic trainer since 2013.
A native of Western New York, Saviola received her bachelor degree in athletic training/sports medicine from Canisius in 2012 and then earned her master’s degree in sport administration from the University in May 2016.
