Canisius University Athletics

2002: Played in 16 matches in her junior season. Posted 16 kills on 52 attempts. Had a season-high six kills on 14 attempts in a loss to Coastal Carolina. Was credited with one solo block and seven block assists. Was named to the 2002 MAAC/New York State Lottery All-Academic Team.

2001: Played in 14 matches, scoring 24 kills on 66 attempts. Was credited with two blocks and eight block assists. Named to the Dean's List in both the fall and spring semesters in 2001.

2000: Her .224 hitting percentage lead the team. Recorded 144 kills in 401 attempts with 54 errors. Tallied 36 digs. Saw action in 26 matches. Set a four-game block assist record with nine against Niagara Oct. 20.

Before Canisius: Received Suffolk County Player of the Year award as a senior. Was a two-year All-Suffolk County Conference selection. Named to the Smithtown Classic and Horseheads Invitational All-Tournament teams. Led Smithtown High School to a Long Island Championship and to the semifinals of the New York State Championships. Was team captain senior year. Also won two varsity letters in softball.

Personal: The daughter of Jim and Kathy Calderone, Kate is a health and physical education major at Canisius. Has volunteered with Special Olympics for the last three years.
