Notes: Became the fourth player in program history to be named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team after averaging 13.3 points and 6.3 rebounds in three tournament games. One of the league's top post players, Steeves has played in all 91 games since coming to Canisius.
2004-2005: Was named second team All-MAAC after averaging a career-high 10.4 points and 6.3 rebounds as a junior. Played in all 31 games a season ago, making 27 starts. Averaged 22.9 minutes per game as the team's primary center. Played in a career-high 34 minutes against Manhattan Feb. 25. Scored a career-high 24 points in the Griffs' MAAC Tournament win over Niagara March 5. Had a career-high 14 rebounds in the team's win over Saint Peter's Jan. 30, then matched that mark in a win at Rider Feb. 11. Closed out the year ranked 11th in the MAAC in rebounds per game. Was credited with six double-doubles (points and rebounds). Had her first career double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds in the team's win over San Diego State Jan. 4. Shot 52.7 percent (137-for-260) from the field, which ranked second in the conference. Registered a career-high 32 blocks to close out the season ranked sixth in the MAAC in that category. Became just the ninth player in program history to reach the 50-career block plateau with three blocked shots at Saint Peter's Feb. 19. Enters the season needing two blocks to move into sixth place all-time in career blocks at Canisius. After averaging 18.5 points, 12 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in two games at Rider and Iona, she was named the MAAC Player of the Week (Feb. 18). Was named to the 2005 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Women's Basketball District I Second Team, as voted on by CoSIDA. Also honored as the New York Lottery Student-Athlete of the Game when the Griffs met Fairfield on MAAC-TV Feb. 21, in the Arena in Harbor Yard. Was one of four team members to be named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
2003-2004: Played in all 30 games for the second-straight season, making 28 starts. Averaged 5.9 points and 5.8 rebounds. Scored a then career-high 13 points after going 5-for-6 from the field in a win at Saint Peter's Feb. 1. Registered double figures in the scoring column in six different games. Pulled down 14 rebounds in a win over Saint Peter's Jan. 11. Ranked 15th in the MAAC in rebounding average. Her 55.5 percent field goal percentage (76-for-137) led the team. Posted nine points and four rebounds in her first career start at Buffalo Nov. 21. Played 31 minutes in two non-conference games at St. Francis (Pa.) and California. Led the team with 17 blocks. Was one of four Canisius players to be named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
2002-2003: Was one of two Canisius freshmen to play in all 30 games. Averaged 2.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per contest. Scored six points against four different teams. Played a season-high 24 minutes in Canisius' win over Fairfield Feb. 23. Scored her collegiate points Nov. 22, against Stetson in a Canisius win.
Before Canisius: Won four varsity letters as the center for the Trumbull High School Eagles. Was named all-state in 2002. Was a McDonald's All-American nominee in 2002. Was named to the Connecticut Post top-15 Players list prior to the 2002 season. Also named to the New Haven Register top-10 Players to Watch team. Scored 1,100-career points at Trumbull High.
Personal: The daughter of David and Sharon Steeves, Jessica is majoring in both early childhood education and childhood education. Has three siblings, brothers David and Jonathan and sister Ashley. Lists reading as her hobby.
