Assistant coach Savonte Walker is entering her fourth season on the staff for the Blue and Gold. Walker serves as the team's defensive coordinator with head coach Mike Decillis, while also serving as the team's travel coordinator and academic accountability counselor. The Kenosha, Wisc., native began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at her alma mater, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP). While on the basketball staff at UWSP, Walker was responsible for recruiting, strength and conditioning and on-floor coaching.

Walker was a two-time all-conference selection for the UWSP women's basketball program. She ranks eighth on the all-time games played list and 12th in scoring. Walker was also a three-time regional All-American soccer goalie for the Pointers. She still holds the single-season and career records for shutouts and wins at Stevens Point.

Walker received her bachelor's degree in sociology and psychology from UWSP in 1998. She earned her master's degree in physical education at Canisius College in 2003 and resides in Buffalo.
