Assistant Coach Lindsay Hieronymus 2024 Headshot

Lindsay Hieronymus

Lindsay Hieronymus is in her second year as an assistant coach at Canisius. In her role, she specializes in recruiting, data analytics, rebounding, offense, and post development. Off the court, she manages fundraising and academics.

She helped develop post talent on a team that returns Shariah Gailes and Yasmine Djibril.

Gailes completed the 2024-25 season leading the team in rebounding and second in scoring. Gailes ranked third in the MAAC in rebounds (8.1) and second with 2.7 offensive rebounds per game. Gailes notched eight double-doubles, ranking second in the MAAC in that category.

Djibril led the team in field goal percentage (49%). Through her freshman year, Djibril saw a significant increase in production from non-conference to conference play. In non-conference play, the freshman averaged 5.0 points and 3.7 rebounds. In league play, Djibril averaged 5.8 points and 5.2 rebounds. Djibril earned MAAC Rookie of the Week honors on Dec. 29th.

As a team under Hieronymus’ direction, Canisius finished third among the MAAC in rebounding margin, third in defensive rebounds and fifth in total rebounds. Three players, Sanogo, Djibril and Gailes ranked in the top 25 among the MAAC in rebounding.

Prior to joining Tiffany Swoffard's staff on Main Street, Hieronymus served as an assistant coach at Mercer University during the 2023-24 campaign. During her lone season with the Bears, Hieronymus helped Mercer to 15 wins, highlighted by a 10-4 mark at home, and a semifinal appearance in the Southern Conference (SoCon) Tournament. Hieronymus oversaw player development for Mercer's post players, including Stacie Jones and Mackenzie Johnson, who both finished the 2023-24 season averaging better than 10.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. She also held the role of recruiting coordinator at Mercer, and she was responsible for scouting reports and team scheduling.

Prior to Mercer, Hieronymus spent one year at Miami (Ohio), coaching alongside Swoffard during the 2022-23 season. At Miami (Ohio), she implemented and oversaw data analytics, served as rebounding coordinator and assisted with all scouting reports. Hieronymus also oversaw player development for guards and forwards, including Maddi Cluse, who averaged 14.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game, which ranked in the top-15 of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) in each of those categories. In addition to on-court coaching, she assisted with fundraising, served as a liaison to academic support and created digital recruiting content and correspondence.

From 2019-22, Hieronymus spent three seasons with the Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball program. During her time there, she oversaw various responsibilities, including general management of the program's day-to-day operations and coordinating team travel. She worked with multiple units within the athletic department as well, acting as the women's basketball staff liaison to sports information, development, ticketing, business operations and sports performance.

Hieronymus was a four-year member of the women's basketball team at Transylvania University, where she helped the program win three conference regular-season championships and one conference tournament title, while making two NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship tournament appearances.

A native of Lexington, Ky., she earned her bachelor's degree in biology from Transylvania in 2016 and went on to complete her master of business administration with a concentration in leadership from Averett University in 2019.
