Jazz Weaver

Former UNC Greensboro standout Christina "Jazz" Weaver enters her fourth season as an assistant coach with the Canisius women’s basketball program.

Weaver serves as the Golden Griffins recruiting and offensive coordinator, helping head coach Scott Hemer assemble the Golden Griffin roster. She also works with the programs guards, while assisting in scouting and game planning.

Working with the Canisius offense, Weaver oversaw the development of many players, including D’Jhai Patterson-Ricks. Patterson-Ricks earned All-MAAC Third Team honors in 2019 before going to play professionally in Ireland.

Weaver joined Canisius after spending the 2017-18 season at East Carolina, where she served as ECU's director of women's basketball operations.

Prior to her work with head coach Heather Macy’s staff at ECU, Weaver spent the 2016-17 campaign as the director of basketball operations with the women’s program at Northern Illinois.

With the Huskies, Weaver managed all aspects of team travel, budget, practice players and facilities scheduling while working as the team's liaison with marketing and communications. She also oversaw team academics, assisted with recruiting visits and managed the NIU women's basketball alumni event which saw its largest crowd in event history.

During her year in DeKalb, the Huskies posted their first 20-win season in over a decade and reached the postseason for the first time in over 20 years with a WNIT bid.

Weaver began her coaching career at UNC Greensboro, spending one season as director of basketball operations before being elevated to assistant coach during the 2015-16 season. In addition to her operations duties, Weaver worked with First Team All-Southern Conference selection Lucy Mason, who became the program's all-time leading scorer.

In 2019, Weaver was named one of the WBCA (Women’s Basketball Coaching Association) Thirty Under 30, as well as earning the WBCA/Wilson Opportunity scholarship in 2021.

A four-year letter winner at UNC Greensboro (2008-12), Weaver played in 85 career games at UNCG and helped lead the Spartans to four-straight SoCon Tournament appearances. She earned her Bachelor of Science in sociology criminology with a minor in African American studies from UNCG in 2012.

A native of Covington, Ky., Weaver is a member of the Covington Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame.
