2002: Started 38 games... Led the team with a .290 batting average... Was third on the team with eight doubles, and his 36 hits were fourth on the team... Threw out 28 percent of runners that attempted to steal a base... Made just three errors in 235 chances... Went 4-for-6 in a doubleheader against St. Bonaventure (4/25)... Named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.

2001: Started 14-of-18 games behind the plate... Made only three errors in 89 chances... Threw out 4-of-23 base stealers... Named to MAAC All-Academic Team.

2000: Hit .313 in 14 games... Recorded only one error in 99 chances.

Before Canisius: Member of junior Blue Jays in 1999... Captain and team MVP in volleyball and captain and county all-star in baseball.

Personal: The son of Joseph and Bonnie Van Geene, Matt is a physical education major at Canisius.
