Gavin Falconer

A standout player with the Griffs, Gavin Falconer is in his first year as assistant coach with the Canisius College men’s soccer program.

“We are very excited to have Gavin join our staff,” said Griffs head coach Dermot McGrane. “He had a great career as a forward with the Golden Griffins and is very well respected by the current members of our team. Gavin will be able to offer a unique perspective to our players based on the experience he gained while playing for me. He will be involved in all aspects of our program, but I expect him to be heavily involved with coaching our attacking players as we progress through the spring and into the championship season.”

Falconer played for the Griffs during the 2011 and 2012 campaigns, totaling 33 points, 13 goals and seven assists. The first player in the program’s history to garner first-team all-region accolades, Falconer had a breakout season in 2012. He accumulated 26 points on 10 goals and six assists as a senior, ranking 20th nationally in points and 31st in goals.

A native of Waterford, Ireland, Falconer collected NSCAA All-North Atlantic First Team honors and All-MAAC First Team accolades, while helping the Griffs receive votes in the national poll for the first time in school history and reach as high as second in the NSCAA North Atlantic rankings.

A two-time member of the MAAC All-Academic Team, Falconer earned his bachelor’s degree from Canisius in sport management in 2013 and is currently pursuing his master’s in sport administration.
