Biography

2003-04: Served as one of the team’s captains... Scored one goal and added two assists in 27 games... Named a finalist for the 2004 Hockey Humanitarian Award for his off-ice contributions to the on-campus and off-campus communities.

2002-03: One of four Golden Griffins to play in all 37 games... Recorded five assists as the captain of the Blue and Gold’s defensive corps... Recorded two assists in the Griffs’ 4-0 win over Bentley (11/22)... Posted 34 penalty minutes... Was selected as Canisius’ representative to the 2003 NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference, one of 273 student-athletes across the country.

2001-02: Only Golden Griffin to play in all 35 games... Registered 15 points on five goals and 10 assists... Scored first collegiate goal in Griffs' 4-4 tie with Fairfield (11/16)... Recorded first career points, two assists, in Griffs' 9-3 win over Alabama-Huntsville (10/20)... Posted 20 penalty minutes... Scored game-winning goal in 3-1 victory over Iona (12/8).

Before Canisius: Recorded 170 penalty minutes as a member of the Lebret Eagles in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League... Scored one goal and added 13 assists in 53 games in 2000-01... Garnered the Kresse-Kruger-Mantyka Scholar Athlete Award in the SJHL... Also played for the Melfort Mustangs and the Yorkton Parkland Mallers... Attended Sacred Heart SS.

Personal: The son of Leroy and Sandy Persick, Mark is a political science and criminal justice major at Canisius... Has three younger sisters, Erin, Jill and Christy.
