Koki Takano

Koki Takano

Koki Takano is in his seventh year as an assistant athletic trainer at Canisius College where his primary responsibilities lie with the hockey and rowing teams. He also serves as an adjunct professor and clinical instructor in the CAATE Accredited Undergraduate Athletic Training Education Program.

Takano joined Canisius after serving internships with the New York Islanders, Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Dragons. In addition, Takano served as a teaching fellow within the CAATE Accredited Undergraduate Athletic Training Education Program at Long Island University.

He is a certified instructor of CPR/AED through the American Red Cross and a Performance Enhancement Specialist certified through The National Academy of Sports Medicine. Takano is currently an active member of the National Athletic and New York State Athletic Trainers' Associations.

The Sapporo, Japan native graduated from Kean University with a bachelor’s degree in physical education in 2006. He earned his master’s in sport sciences from Long Island University in 2008.

Takano and his wife, Miyuki, live in Buffalo.
