The 2019-20 season will be Jake Kroll's fourth year as the program's academic and operations coach on Reggie Witherspoon’s staff at Canisius. Kroll came to Canisius after spending the 2015-16 campaign at Daemen College, where he worked under former Canisius head coach Mike MacDonald.

In his first three seasons with the program, Kroll has been a part of the coaching staff that has helped lead the Blue and Gold to 54 total wins, 36 of which have come in MAAC play, along with a share of the 2017-18 MAAC regular-season championship and two-straight national postseason appearances. For his efforts, he was named to the 2017-18 NABC Under Armour 30-under-30, a list that recognizes up-and-coming young coaches in college men's basketball.

As the academic and operations coach at Canisius, Kroll is be responsible for handling the team’s day-to-day operations, which includes practice set-up, team travel plans, video film exchange, opponent breakdown and scouting reports, while also assisting with academic progress for the team’s student-athletes. He is the director for the Canisius Boy’s Basketball Camps and he also assists with the administration of the program’s team camp and elite player camp, held each summer in the Koessler Athletic Center.

Kroll joined the Canisius staff after spending the 2015-16 season at Daemen College. With the Wildcats, he was involved in all aspects of the program, including on-floor coaching, recruiting and scouting of opponents.  Prior to his time at Daemen, Kroll served as the assistant video coordinator for the men's basketball program at the University of Alabama for one year.  In that role with the Crimson Tide, he worked closely with the team’s coaching staff, preparing and editing video scouting reports on opponents while also breaking down Alabama practice and game film for self-scouting purposes.

Prior to his time in Tuscaloosa, Kroll served as the varsity team assistant coach at Park School of Buffalo during 2013-14 season.

Kroll graduated cum laude with his bachelor’s degree in communication from the University at Buffalo in 2015. At Buffalo, the Lancaster, N.Y., native served as a student manager for the men’s basketball program under current Canisius head coach Reggie Witherspoon. Kroll assisted in the day-to-day operations of the Bulls’ program, handling everything from drills in practice to team travel. He also assisted with UB’s video scouting efforts.

Kroll graduated from Lancaster High School in 2011. There he earned two varsity letters as a member of the school’s basketball team and he served as a team captain during the 2010-11 campaign. He earned his master’s degree in sport administration at the College in May 2018.
