Biography

Ranks eighth in games played at Canisius and fifth in games started... Tied for ninth in career hits and second in triples.

2005: Converted to catcher where he split time behind the plate and at third base... Fifth on the team in hitting with a .285 average... Second on the team with nine doubles... One of two Griffs to start all 47 games... Second on the squad with a .964 fielding percentage... Made 23 starts at catcher and 24 at third base... Posted 12 multiple-hit games and had an 11-game hitting streak... Posted three games with three hits.

2004: Led the team in hitting (.297), triples (4) and RBIs (31)... Also ranked second on the team in slugging percentage (.406) and on-base percentage (.351)... Started 37 games at shortstop and eight at third base... Hit cleanup in the order in 27 games... Led the team in assists (115) and posted a .910 fielding percentage... Had 14 multiple-hit games... Posted nine multiple-RBI games.

2003: Started all 43 games at third base... Was the leadoff hitter in 16 games... Posted five multiple-hit games... Ranked fourth on the team in runs (18) and tied for second in walks (18)... Went 3-for-3 with a run against Fairfield (4/6)... Went 3-for-5 with a homer at Iona (3/22)... Went 2-for-4 with two runs and a homer against Saint Peter’s (5/10).

Before Canisius: Was three-time IAC all-star and named third-team all-state in 2001... Member of the 2001 Empire State Games Central Region Team.

Personal: The son of Gibran and Mary Baida, Gabe is a history major at Canisius.
