Biography

2007: Moved into a full-time pitching role after splitting time between pitcher and first base as a freshman... Made 14 appearances, including six starts, and threw 41.2 innings... Recorded 24 strikeouts and one save... Only gave up one hit and did not allow a run in his last four appearances, all relief outings... Posted a 1.86 ERA in his last five games... Earned a save after tossing 1.1 scoreless innings against Niagara in the Big 4 Classic semifinal game... Threw three scoreless innings to earn a win against Saint Peter’s May 5.

2006: Played in 30 games and started 20... Posted a .276 batting average with three doubles and two homers... Had 14 RBIs... Made 20 starts at first base and five on the mound... Threw 31.1 innings and struck out 18... Had a 1-3 record in 12 appearances... Tied a school record with five hits vs. Siena (4/22); Last hit was a walk-off homer to win the game in the 10th inning... Gave up three runs and struck out five in eight innings to earn a win vs. Siena (4/23).

Before Canisius: Named first-team All-Western New York and hit .346 as a senior... Compiled a 5-1 record and a 1.37 ERA on the mound as a junior... Struck out 44 in 46 innings... Also hit .354 and led the Catholic League with 23 RBIs... Named second-team All-Western New York as a designated hitter and a first-team All-Catholic infielder... Team is the two-time Georgetown Cup champions... Also a member of the Glab Post American Legion District 8 championship team.

Personal: The son of Mark and Marita Clifford... Brother, Brian, played baseball at Niagara... Majoring in criminal justice.
