Jeremy Hileman is entering his first season as an assistant coach at Canisius. He joined the program on Aug. 16, 2021. Hileman will also serve as the program’s pitching coach.

Hileman arrives on Main Street after spending the 2021 campaign as the pitching coach at Shippensburg University, a Division II school in Pennsylvania.

"The level of care shown for all athletes in the program, and the culture they have built, has been evident since our first conversation. In his lone year at Shippensburg, Hileman helped develop the pitching staff by evaluating movement and building individualized plans for every pitcher. In those plans, he established varying warm-up and recovery methods and created throwing programs and workloads.

Hileman helped improve Shippensburg's earned-run average by 1.28 runs per game and increased the program's strikeouts per nine innings by 3.5 points. He also helped the staff's batting average against was reduced by 44 points.

Overall, Shippensburg's ERA, strikeouts and hits per nine innings and opponent batting average ranked in the top-three in the PSAC East.

He has utilized technological advancements, including Rapsodo, Edgertronic and DriveLine Edge, to record, track and assess development during bullpen sessions. He also assisted in return-to-throwing programs for athletes recovering from injuries.

Additionally, Hileman was accountable for in-game management of the pitching staff and pitch-calling.

Before Shippensburg, Hileman has served as the Director of Pitching Initiatives at FullReps Training Center in Camp Hill, Pa., since 2018.

At FullReps, he has managed the pitching development of all athletes ranging from the high school level to the Major Leagues. He has formulated in-depth reports to present pitchers with 3D pitch potentials, pitch comparisons and spin visualizations to get the athlete to learn about their pitching profile.

He also helped develop a training regiment for a minor league pitcher during winter training in 2020, allowing the player to be invited to his club's major league spring training camp and secure a spot on the team's top prospect list.

A former right-handed pitcher, Hileman played collegiately at three institutions. His career began at Mount St. Mary's University, where he spent one season, appearing in four games with the Mountaineers in 2015. He then transferred to Harford Community College, where he did not appear in any games with the Fighting Owls.

Following a redshirt year at Harford CC, he spent the 2017 season at Kutztown, where he appeared in two games for the Golden Bears. He also spent the fall of 2017 as a volunteer assistant at Kutztown.

A 2019 graduate of Kutztown, Hileman graduated with a degree in elementary education with an early childhood education concentration.

Hileman and his wife, Rachel, have two dogs, Zeus and Apollo.
