Blake Urquhart is in his fourth season with the Golden Griffins baseball team and second year as an assistant coach, having served as the volunteer assistant coach for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

Urquhart's first season in his elevated role had the Blue and Gold continue their winning ways, as Canisius took home a share of the 2019 MAAC regular-season championship. Urquhart was also instrumental in five Griffs earning All-MAAC selections, including hitters Conner Morro, Stephen Bennett and Mark McKenna.
 
During his second season with the Griffs, Urquhart helped lead the baseball team to the 2018 MAAC Championship, advancing to the NCAA Regional in Minnesota.
 
In his first two seasons as part of the coaching staff, Urquhart saw his players win the 2017 MAAC Player of the Year (Jake Lumley), 2018 MAAC Pitcher of the Year (J.P. Stevenson), and 2018 MAAC Relief Pitcher of the Year (Tyler Smith), with Canisius players earning a total of eight All-MAAC honors in Urquhart's first two seasons. He has also witnessed a pair of Griffs be selected in the MLB Draft, with Lumley being drafted to the Oakland Athletics in 2017 and Smith going to the Los Angeles Angels in 2018.
 
Urquhart, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, previously coached at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas during the 2016 season. He also was the head coach for the Gameday Crusaders in the Mile High Collegiate Baseball League based out of Denver, Colo., during the summers of 2016 and 2017,
 
Urquhart earned his bachelor's degree in sports and health sciences from American Military University in 2014. Urquhart completed his master's degree in sports management with a concentration in Sports Administration from AMU in March 2017.
