Biography

2005: Named MAAC baseball Scholar Athlete of the Year for the second-straight season... Named MAAC All-Academic... Played in 27 games with 18 starts.... Started 12 games at shortstop and six at third base... Collected six hits with a double... Went 2-for-4 vs. Marist (5/1).

2004: Named the MAAC Baseball Scholar Athlete of the Year... Made 23 starts at second base, 12 at third base and 10 at shortstop... Was the leadoff hitter in 31 contests... Posted eight multiple-hit games... Hit .231 with a double, a triple and 10 RBIs... Posted a .951 fielding percentage... Stole six bases... Led the team in walks (19), runs (24), sacrifice bunts (6) and plate appearances (184)... Went 5-for-10 with two runs in the last two games against Bethune-Cookman... Went 3-for-7 with two runs in a doubleheader vs. St. Bonaventure (4/22)... Went 3-for-4 with a run at Niagara (5/21).

2003: Started all 43 games at shortstop... Was the Griffs’ leadoff hitter in 12 contests... Had six multiple-hit games... Led the team in on-base percentage (.358) and walks (25)... Led the team with five sacrifice hits... Went 3-for-4 with two runs at St. Bonaventure (4/16)... Went 4-for-9 in the home series against Le Moyne... Collected three hits, three runs and a double in series against Saint Peter’s.

Before Canisius: Played three years of baseball at Baldwinsville... First-team All-Central New York in 2001 and 2002... Named all-league all three years... Also played one season of basketball.

Personal: The son of Kurt and Maureen Hartmann, Brian is a history major at Canisius... Has three sisters.
