•    Served as the top mid-week starter for Canisius during the 2009 season

•    Started elimination game in MAAC Tournament, allowing two runs in 4.1 innings pitched
•    Appeared out of bullpen against Niagara on May 15 — throwing a scoreless inning of relief and striking out two of the three batters he faced
•    Last four starts: 2-0 with 3.63 ERA, 22.1 innings pitched, 13 hits, 11 walks, 18 strikeouts
•    Merritt had eight strikeouts against St. Bonaventure on March 24, the most strikeouts by a Canisius freshman since Michael Rees had eight against Buffalo on March 24, 2004
•    Threw six shutout innings, allowing one hit against Le Moyne on April 22
