Biography

Notes: Enters the season with 180 career 3-pointers, which ranks second all-time in three-point field goals made in program history. In her three previous years as a Golden Griffins, Wittlieb has missed just one game (Dec. 21, 2003 at California). Needs 102 points to become the 15th player in school history to reach 1,000 for her career.

2004-2005: Played in all 31 games a season ago, averaging 30.3 minutes per contest. Closed out the season averaging 9.7 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Scored a season-high 19 points in the team's loss to St. Bonaventure Nov. 21. Had double digits in the scoring column in 17 of the team's 31 contests. Pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds against Fairfield Jan. 16, at home. In that win over Fairfield, Wittlieb posted 12 points to go with her 11 boards for her first career double-double. Ranked 14th in the MAAC in three-point shooting percentage (26.6 percent) and sixth in the league in three-pointers made per game (1.8). Attempted 13 three-point shots in the team's win at Fairfield Feb. 21. Knocked down the 150th three-point field goal in her career at San Diego State Jan. 4. Made a season-high four shots from behind the three-point arc against different teams (vs. St. Bonaventure, at Colgate, at Georgetown and home against Siena). Was credited with a season-high five assists at Fairfield Feb. 21. Played in a career-high 39 minutes in the Griffs' overtime win over Rider Feb. 11. Went 79.6 percent from the free throw line (43-for-54). Made 11 consecutive free throws from Feb. 2-March 4. Was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.

2003-2004: Played in 29 games as a sophomore with 28 starts. Averaged 10.9 points and 3.1 rebounds. Scored double figures in 19 games. Posted a season-high 20 points at Fairfield Feb. 14. Had nine rebounds in a win at Stetson Dec. 30. Ranked 19th in the MAAC in scoring average. Ranked third in the conference and 33rd in the nation in three-point field goal percentage with her 38.5 percent average (62-for-161). Knocked down four three-point field goals in four different games. Ranked third on the team in free throw shooting percentage, going 39-for-52 (75.0 percent) from the line.

2002-2003: Became the first Canisius freshman since Shauna Geronzin in 1998 to be named to the HSBC/MAAC All-Rookie Team. Played in all 30 games as a freshman and started in the last 15 contests. Joined the program as a walk-on and was awarded a scholarship after her rookie campaign. Averaged 9.4 points and 2.3 rebounds. Shot 36.4 percent (63-for-173) from three-point land, which was second on the team. Scored a career-high 22 points in 31 minutes of action at Fairfield Feb. 23, after shooting 6-for-12 from three-point land. Was named the HSBC/MAAC Rookie of the Week four times (Nov. 25, Jan. 6, Feb. 24, and March 1). Named to the Eastern Michigan/Eagle Classic All-Tournament Team. Was honored as the team's Most Improved Player by the team's coaches and players.

Before Canisius: Was named second team all-state after her senior season. Was named first team All-Shore Conference and was a three-time first team all-division selection. Also won three varsity letters as the Lancers' goalkeeper in soccer.

Personal: The daughter of John and Carol Wittlieb, Cheri is a communications major with a businees minor. Has two sisters, Kim and Carol and a brother, John.
