Takacs Tied for 14th After Day One at Colgate

Canisius senior Mikey Takacs posted a two-round score of 143 (-1) and is one of eight golfers tied for 14th after the first day at the 10th Alex Lagowitz Memorial at Seven Oaks Golf Club in Hamilton, N.Y., on Saturday.

Takacs fired an even-par 72 in the first round and followed that effort with a one-under page 71, highlighted by birdies on three of his final four holes. Sophomore Cole Thompson is tied for 22nd in the field after he carded a two-round score of 144, highlighted by his one-under par score of 71 in the second round.

As a team, the Golden Griffins sit in 11th place out of 13 teams with a two-round team score of 589. The Griffs are one stroke back of Binghamton and three strokes behind Le Moyone in the team portion of the tournament. Seton Hall leads the tournament after the first 36 holes with a team score of 564, which is seven strokes better than second-place host Colgate.

Canisius will close out the first fall tournament of the 2026 fall season on Sunday in the final round of the Alex Lagowitz Memorial. Players will start their rounds at 9 a.m.
