Takacs Tied for 10th After Day One at MAAC Golf Championship

Canisius junior Mikey Takacs shot a one-over par score of 73 and is one of six golfers tied for 10th after the opening round of the 2026 MAAC Men's Golf Championship Tuesday afternoon at Disney's Magnolia Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Takacs carded a four of his first-round birdies on the front-nine, as he went out in 34, which was two-under par. He wrapped up the day by shooting 39 on the back nine.

Fellow junior Jake Dantonio posted a six-over score of 78, and is tied for 39th, while freshman Cole Thompson shot a 79 in his first career MAAC Championship round. He is tied for 42nd.

As a team, Canisius posted a team score of 313 in the first round. The Golden Griffins are eight strokes behind Niagara, which sit in 10th place after the tournament's first 18 holes. Iona leads the event after day one, as the Gaels carded a team score of 289, which is four strokes better than second-place Siena.

Roud two of the 54-hole event is set to tee off on Wednesday at 8 a.m.
