Senior Mason Cisco went 3-for-5 at the plate, highlighted by four runs batted in, to spark Canisius to an 8-2 win over Rider Saturday afternoon at Sonny Pittaro Field in Lawrenceville, N.J.

Canisius improved to 6-14 overall and 3-5 in MAAC play with the victory, while Rider fell to 13-7 overall and 9-2 in conference action with the loss.

Cisco's 3-for-5 performance highlighted a strong day at the plate for the Golden Griffins, as redshirt-sophomore Justin Bremner went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in and redshirt-sophomore Tyson Kaufman went 3-for-3 with a pair of walks on the day.

Kyle Batt took the loss for the Broncs after he gave up five runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings of work.

Canisius struck first in the second game of the three-game MAAC series, as junior Eric Weeks led off the second inning with a double to left, and then later scored on an RBI-single by Bremner that gave the Griffs the 1-0 lead.

The Griffs kept it rolling in the third, as redshirt-freshman Bennett Cox drove in a run with an RBI-double. Later in the frame, Cisco drove in two more runs with a single to right, giving Canisius a 4-0 advantage.

The Broncs responded with one run in the fifth, but senior Owen Silliman pushed the Blue and Gold's cushion back to four with an infield single in the sixth that allowed Bremner to score from third.

Rider made it a three-run affair in the home-half of the sixth with a single run to make it 5-2 in favor of the Griffs, but Cisco picked up his second hit and third RBI of the day in the top-half of the seventh on a base hit to right to extend the Griffs' lead to 6-2.

In the ninth inning, Cisco knocked in his fourth RBI of the day on a double to right and then Bremner capped the scoring with an RBI-single to right. Senior Sam Staerker closed out the game on the mound for Canisius, as he held Rider to just one hit over 3.1 innings of relief in victory.
