Forcucci Named MAAC Rookie of the Week

Freshman Ella Forcucci was named the Jersey Mike's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Forcucci won the award for the third consecutive week after she tallied eight goals and two assists over two contests last week.

Forcucci tied her career-high for the third time this season with five goals at Louisville on Wednesday before adding three goals and two assists at Austin Peay on Friday. She is the first freshman in program history to tally hat tricks six straight collegiate appearances to start her career.

The Orchard Park, N.Y., native joined the Canisius program after amassing 271 goals, 218 assists, 144 ground balls, 43 caused turnovers and 50 draw controls with the Quakers, and she holds the school record for career points (489). Her 94 assists in her senior season rank third all-time in single-season assists in New York State.

Canisius returns home to face Mercyhurst on Thursday afternoon. Game time at the Demske Sports Complex is scheduled for 3 p.m. and the contest will air on ESPN+.
