Hanson Garners MAAC Face-Off Specialist of the Week Accolades

Canisius senior Micah Hanson has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's Co-Face-Off Specialist of the Week, league officials announced on Monday.

A native of Black Earth, Wis., Hanson shared the honor with Sacred Heart's Ryan Grove. It also marked the eighth time in the last three seasons at Hanson has received a weekly honor from the league.

Hanson posted a .630 winning percentage at the "X" (25-of-40) and finished with 14 ground balls during the Golden Griffins' matchups with Mercyhurst and Robert Morris last week.

Against the Lakers on Feb. 17, Hanson won 14-of-20 draws with seven ground balls before going 11-for-20 in faceoffs with seven ground balls in the Griffs' home debut against the Colonials on Feb. 20.

During the contest against RMU, Hanson notched the 600th face-off victory of his career, becoming one of just 12 active players at all levels of intercollegiate lacrosse to amass 600-or-more faceoff wins in their career.

Canisius (0-3) returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Le Moyne in a non-conference contest at Sahlen's Sports Park in Elma. Opening faceoff between the Griffs and Dolphins is slated for 1 p.m.
