Women’s Soccer Falls to Marist on Senior Day

Marist scored a goal in each half and used five saves from keeper Samantha Graf to post a 2-0 victory over Canisius in Metro Conference women's soccer action Saturday at the Demske Sports Complex.

Marissa Foster and Riley Mills tallied the two goals for the Red Foxes (5-7-1, 5-2-1 Metro) providing enough offense for Graf, who recorded her fifth shutout of the season.

Freshman keeper Alexa Turmel finished with 11 saves for the Golden Griffins (5-7-0, 2-5-0 Metro).

Foster opened the scoring less than five minutes into the contest when she put home a rebound after Ariana Mullen's initial attempt on the rush was turned aside by Turmel.

Canisius nearly drew level in the 19th minute as senior Maggie Cregan played a ball to the back post that junior Azaria Fagan headed off the woodwork and out of play.

Mills doubled the Marist advantage to 2-0 in the 66th minute when she put home a loose ball after Turmel was unable to corral an initial attempt from Julia Oliveira.
