Last weekend, the Griffs competed in the SPIRE Institute D1 Midwest Open in Geneva, OH, which was highlighted by the men's one-mile run that saw four different Golden Griffins place in the top ten. Senior Brody Jones paced the Griffs men's team with a first-place finish with a time of 4:15.80. Fellow sophomore Nathaniel Fisher finished close behind in second at 4:17.65. Senior Kyle Urban rounded out the top three (4:20.97) and sophomore Fenway Breckels placed seventh, posting a time of 4:27.26.

Freshman Jaxyn Mahoney also took home the Jersey Mike's MAAC Men's Rookie of the Week honors last week for his performance in the SPIRE Institute D1 Midwest Open. Mahoney placed second in the 800-meter run, finishing in 1:56.00. The freshman was also a member of the men's 4x400-meter relay that took home a third-place finish with a combined time of 3:33.07.

The Golden Griffins found success last season at the YSU Mid Major Invitational with sophomore returner Nathaniel Fisher pacing the Griffs, setting the freshman school record in the 3000-meter race with a time of 8:36.97.

Sophomores Clara Sundberg and Ella Krumpek also set personal records last season. Sundberg set PR's in the women's mile run (5:29.96) and the 800-meter run (2:28.12). Krumpek set a PR in the women's 3000-meter race, with a time of 10:41.19.
