Indoor Track Travels to the SPIRE Midwest Open

The Canisius indoor track team continues its 2026 campaign as they head back to Ohio for a second straight week to compete in the SPIRE Institute D1 Midwest Open in Geneva, OH.

Last weekend, the Golden Griffins competed in the AI Campbell Invitational in Akron, OH. Senior Kyle Urban led the way in the men's 3000m, placing second, crossing the line in 8:28.47. Sophomore Nathaniel Fisher placed just behind Urban in third, crossing the line in 8:32.35.

On the women's side, sophomore Clara Sundberg led the way, turning in an 11th-place finish in the women's 800m with a time of 2:27.12.

Returners from last season's SPIRE Midwest Open include junior Joseph Capuzzo, who finished fourth in the men's 5000m. Urban was also a top finisher at the event last season, placing sixth in the men's 3000m run.
