Cross Country Opens Its Season at the Little Three Championships

The Canisius men's and women's cross country teams kick off their season Saturday with their annual appearance in the Little Three Championships in Olean, N.Y.

The women's 5k is slated for 10:45 a.m. while the mens 5k is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at the Joyce Field/Reilly Complex on the campus of St. Bonventure University.

The Golden Griffin men are looking to grab their 19th straight Little Three title while the women have their sights on a fifth straight Little Three crown.

The Griffs top returning men's runner is senior Kyle Urban, who placed third in last year's Little Three meet with a time of 15:52.6. The team also returns sophomore Fenway Breckels, sophomore Nathaniel Fisher, and senior Brody Jones, who all placed within the top eight, respectively.

On the women's side, sophomore Ella Krumpek placed second in the 2024 edition of the Little Three with a time of 18:31.8. Also returning for the women is sophomore Clara Sundberg, who placed 13th last year.

The program welcomes in a total of 12 newcomers this season, with nine on the men's team and three on the women's team.
