Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Falls to Buffalo in Season Opener

Buffalo graduate student Jasmine Guerber scored two goals in the game's first 12 minutes and then added an assist on the Bulls' third goal of the night midway through the second half to help lead visiting UB to a 3-0 win over Canisius in non-conference women's soccer action Thursday evening at the Demske Sports Complex.

Guerber tallied the game's first goal in the seventh minute after she was able to redirect a loose ball in the box off a corner kick. Maya Galko earned an assist on Guerber's first goal after she sent a corner kick ball into the box, which deflected off a Canisius defender and directly onto the right foot of Guerber. Just 4:54 seconds later, Guerber pushed Buffalo's lead to 2-0 after she settled an errant pass by the Canisius defense to beat Golden Griffin goalkeeper Chloe Tseros with a shot into the back of the net.

UB's Laiken Kiser capped the game's scoring with a goal in the 67th minute after she took a feed in the box from Guerber for her first marker of the season. The three goals by the Bulls were more than enough support for junior goalkeeper Lexi Thompson, who made three saves en route to her 14th career shutout.

Tseros made nine stops in goal for the Griffs in her first career start.
