Libby, Tifft Recognized as Student-Athletes of the Month for March

Men's lacrosse junior Kaiden Libby and women's lacrosse junior Maggie Tifft have been recognized as the Canisius Student-Athletes of the Month for the month of March, presented by Milk For Life.

A native of Wheaton, Ill., Libby has appeared in all 13 games for the Griffs this season, posting an assist while also pitching in a career-high 23 ground balls and three caused turnovers. He recently established a career high as he scooped up six ground balls in Canisius' 12-6 victory at Mount St. Mary's on April 5.

Libby, a sports and exercise health care major, has been named to the Dean's List in all five of his semesters at Canisius. He was named to the MAAC Men's Lacrosse All-Academic Team in 2024.

Tifft, a product of Liverpool, N.Y., has started all 12 games for Canisius this season, establishing career highs with 20 goals, five assists, 25 points and 26 draw controls. She has scored three-or-more goals on three occasions this season, highlighted by a four-goal performance in the Griffs' 20-8 victory at Le Moyne back on March 5.

A journalism and sports broadcasting dual major, Tifft has earned Dean's List accolades in all five of her semesters at Canisius. She was also named to the MAAC Women's Lacrosse All-Academic Team in 2024.

The Canisius Athletic Department saw 18 of its 20 varsity programs post a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher during the 2024 fall semester, while the school's 405 active student-athletes combined to post a cumulative GPA of 3.47 for the term.

The department also posted a 97 percent Graduation Success Rate in the latest data released by the NCAA in November. Representing incoming student-athletes from 2014-15 through 2017-18, the report represented the fifth consecutive year that the University's athletic department has recorded a graduation success rate that was 97 percent or higher.

The data also showed that 15 of Canisius' 16 varsity programs posted a GSR score of 90 or higher while a total of 11 programs recorded perfect 100 percent graduation rates: men's cross country/track, golf, hockey, men's soccer, women's basketball, women's cross country/track, rowing, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, women's swimming and diving and volleyball.
