Ryan Edholm Earns All-MAAC First Team Honors

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced Wednesday that Canisius senior golfer Ryan Edholm is one of seven players to be voted All-MAAC First Team. The 2024-25 MAAC Golf All-MAAC Teams were voted on by the league's head coaches.

This year marks the first time the MAAC has released a postseason all-star unit in advance of the league's annual golf championship tournament. Traditionally, a golfer earned All-MAAC honors after he finished among the top-10 (including ties) at the league's championship event. This year, the league will honor the top-10 finishers with All-MAAC Championship accolades.

A native of Tonawanda, N.Y., Edholm leads the Golden Griffins with his 72.5 stroke average through 20 rounds this season. In 11 of his 20 rounds this year, Edholm has shot at-par or better, highlighted by his season-low score of 68 in the second round of the Eastern Kentucky University Colonel Classic, which was played during the fall season. Among Canisius' golfers, he has been the Griffs' top performer in seven of the team's nine tournaments this year.

The program's active leader in career events played with 36, Edholm has 13 career top-20 finishes to his credit, including four top-five performances and eight top-10 efforts. This season alone, he has placed in the top-five of two tournaments, highlighted by his third-place finish at both the 2024 Little Three Championship and the N.Y./Pa. Division I Quad Match, which was played Monday afternoon.

In MAAC Golf Championship play, Edholm has placed in the top-25 at the conference's final tournament in each of the last two years, highlighted by his fifth-place finish in 2022-23.

The first round of the 2025 MAAC Golf Championship will start Thursday (April 17) at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Rounds two and three will be played Friday and Saturday, and the individual winner will receive the McLeod Trophy and the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship.
