Women's Lacrosse Knocks Off Robert Morris

Sophomore Ashlyn Dhandwar scored three goals and junior Meg Hiltz added two goals and two assists to help lead Canisius to a 15-9 win over Robert Morris in non-conference women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at the Demske Sports Complex.

With the win, the Golden Griffins improved to 3-4 on the season while the Colonials fell to 1-6 with the loss.

Sophomore Maddie Fitzgerald, freshman Taylor Wolf and sophomore Mya Zeller each chipped in two goals for the Griffs, while junior Maggie Tifft was credited with a goal and two assists for the Blue and Gold. Defensively, sophomore Olivia Licardi made a career-high 16 saves.

For Robert Morris, Jenna Irwin tallied a game-high five points with four goals and an assist, while Vivian LaMange added three goals and an assist to the losing effort.

Canisius scored two times in the first 3:00 of the opening quarter to jump out to an early 2-0 lead and a goal by Fitzgerald at the 10:29 mark of the first quarter put the Griffs up 3-1. After Robert Morris tied the game at 3-3 with a pair of goals, Dhandwar started a three-goal rally for Canisius that put the home team up 6-3 with 1:22 left in the opening stanza. The Colonials scored a late goal to end the Griffs' scoring surge and send the team into the second quarter with Canisius up 6-4.

Canisius took a 9-5 lead into the locker room at halftime after the Griffs scored three times in the final 5:06 of the first half, including a goal by Zeller with just seconds left before the horn sounded to end the first half. In the third quarter, Canisius scored the final three goals of the frame in 4:58 to take a 13-6 advantage into the final quarter.

In the fourth, freshman Lauren Matyka tallied her second goal of the season to extend the Canisius lead to eight goals. After Jenna Irwin answered for the Colonials, Wolf found the back of the net to for the second time on the day to make the score 15-7. Robert Morris tacked on two goals in the final minute to cap the day's scoring.

Robert Morris goalie Sydney Riker made 11 stops for the Colonials, who were outshot in the game by Canisius by a
32-28 count.

GAME NOTES
• Saturday's game was the 15th all-time meeting between the two programs. Canisius leads the series with a 14-1.
• Fitzgerald's two goals extended her 13-game goal streak, which dates back to April 3, 2024. Fitzgerald leads the team and ranks seventh in the MAAC with 16 goals on season.
• Dhandwar has scored multiple goals in four of the team's last five outings.
• Saturday was Wolf's first career multi-goal game. All three of her goals this season have come in the Griffs' last two games.
• Hiltz has now recorded four career games with four-or more points.


UP NEXT
Canisius continues a three-game homestand on Wednesday when the team plays host to Central Michigan. Game time is set for 4 p.m., and will be streamed on ESPN+.
