McMillan IV Named All-MAAC Third Team

Canisius junior guard Paul McMillan IV was voted to the All-MAAC Third Team, the conference office announced Monday. The 2024-25 All-MAAC teams were voted on by the league's 13 head coaches.

The first Golden Griffin to average 20.0 points per game or better for the season since Billy Baron in 2013-14, McMillan IV scored a team-leading 579 points in 29 games, highlighted by his career-high 31-point performances against St. Bonaventure and Fairfield. He scored in double-figures in all 29 games played, and his 18 games with 20-or more points scored led the league are the most for a Canisius player in his first season with the program since Ron Peaks had 20-or more in a game 18 times during the 1977-78 campaign. Just the ninth player in school history to score 30-or more points at the Koessler Athletic Center, McMillan IV followed his 31-point performance against St. Bonaventure in the Griffs' home opener with a 25-point game against Brown on Nov. 23, making him the first player since Larry Fogle in 1973-74 to post 25-or more points in each of his first two home games in a Canisius uniform.

Of his 579 points scored, 448 of those came as a result of a traditional two-point field goal or a made free-throw. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native recorded 23 "traditional three-point plays" with a basket and an ensuing made free-throw, which was 14 more than the rest of the team combined. McMillan IV went to the free-throw line 167 times, second-most in the MAAC, and that accounted for 42.8 percent of the Griffs' total free-throw chances for the season. That ranked first among all players at the NCAA Division I level, as of March 10.

McMillan IV, who finished the regular season ranked second in the MAAC and 21st in the nation in scoring average with his 20.0 points per game, is the 37th player in program history to be named All-MAAC, and he is the 16th different member of the program to earn All-MAAC Third Team accolades. He is joined on the All-MAAC Third Team by Prophet Johnson (Fairfield), Devin Dinkins (Manhattan), Elijah Lewis (Marist), Marcus Randolph (Saint Peter's) and Anquan Hill (Sacred Heart).
