Men's Basketball junior Paul McMillan IV and Women's Basketball graduate student Jaela Johnson have been recognized as the Canisius Student-Athletes of the Month for January, presented by Milk For Life.
A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, McMillan IV leads the Golden Griffins and the MAAC in points per game with 20.1, while averaging 3.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. McMillan IV has scored 30+ points in three games this season, scoring a career-high 31 against St. Bonaventure and Fairfield.
McMillan IV is currently pursuing a degree in professional technical studies.
A native of Louisville, KY, Johnson has started in all 20 games for the Golden Griffins while averaging 10.4 points per game and 2.9 assists per game which both lead the Griffs. Johnson scored a season-high 20 points while adding six assists in a victory over Sacred Heart.
Johnson is currently pursuing a degree in Sport Administration.
The Canisius Athletic Department saw 18 of its 20 varsity programs post a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher during the 2024 fall semester, while the school's 405 active student-athletes combined to post a cumulative GPA of 3.47 for the term.
