Swimming and Diving Teams Break Multiple Records at MAAC Championships

Freshman Daphne Mead continued to impress in her rookie MAAC Championship appearance, taking third place in the women's 400 IM A Final and breaking the school record in that event as the men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up day three of the 2025 MAAC Championships at the SPIRE institute in Geneva, Ohio.

After three days of competition, both men's and women's teams hold a seventh place position in the total point standings, with the women scoring 187 points and men scoring 150 points. Niagara hold the lead on both men's and women's sides of the competition.

Mead's time of 4:23.21 breaks the Golden Griffin record set by Kelsey Childress st in the 2019-20 season. On day two of the competition, Mead took the best time of the day for Griffs, placing fourth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.76.

In the final event of the evening, the women's relay team of Mead, sophomore Evie Lieghton, sophomore Cassandra Ercoli and sophomore Leyna Swanson broke the school record in the 200 medley relay with a time 3:49.43. This record was set at the 2024 MAAC championships by Lieghton, Ercoli, junior Hannah Brainard and Jordan O'Connor.

The Griffs will conclude the MAAC championships on Saturday with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. All the action throughout the day will be streamed live on ESPN+.
