Haldenby Tabbed AHA Rookie of the Week

Canisius freshman forward Kyan Haldenby has been named the Atlantic Hockey America Rookie of the Week, league officials announced on Tuesday.
 
A native of Toronto, Haldenby notched the first three points of his collegiate career as he recorded two goals and an assist during the Golden Griffins sweep of league foe Mercyhurst last weekend at LECOM Harborcenter.
 
In game one of the series against the Lakers, Haldenby picked up his first career point when it tallied the primary helper on senior Hunter Andrew's game-winning goal in the second period.
 
On Saturday, Haldenby bookended a four-goal first period, registering his first collegiate goal on a breakaway less than three minutes into the contest to open the scoring before capping the opening-frame salvo with a backhanded effort with less than two minutes to play in the first.
 
Canisius (7-6-1, 3-4-1 AHA) returns to action when it hosts AHA foe Air Force in a two-game league series Friday and Saturday.
 
Puck drop for both games of the series between the Griffs and Falcons is slated for 1 p.m. at LECOM Harborcenter in downtown Buffalo.
