Volleyball Earns Three All-MAAC Selections, Six to MAAC All-Academic Team

Senior Ella Bourque, senior Bella Mosquera and freshman Madi Cowan all were named to All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference teams, the conference office announced Thursday.

Bourque, who surpassed Shannon Jordon (1995-98) to become Canisius' all-time record holder for career assists, was named to the All-MAAC First Team. She continues a season that saw her tally 1,141 assists as the team heads into Saturday's semifinal match against Fairfield. The former Setter of the Year and Rookie of the Year in 2022 dished out a career-high 60 assists in the Griffs' five-set win over Siena (Oct. 25) which also marked the highest single-match assist total in the conference this season.

Mosquera earned All-MAAC Second Team honors after leading all middle blockers in the conference in kills. Mosquera led the Griffs in kills on 12 occasions this year including 17 matches where she recorded double digit kills. The West Chicago, Ill. native tallied a career-high 15 kills at Manhattan (Oct. 10).

Cowan was the third Golden Griffin to receive an all-conference selection, earning a spot on the All-MAAC Rookie Team. Cowan put down 20 kills against UAlbany (Sept. 6), marking the most kills by a Canisius freshman in a match since Claire Leonard recorded 22 kills against Iona on Oct. 29, 2017. Cowan's kills reached double digits 16 times this season including a five-match stretch through conference play where she tallied 10-or-more kills in each of the Griffs' outings. Ranking second among the team in total kills, Cowan led the team in the category through six matches.

Additionally, all six of theGolden Griffins' eligable student-athletes were named to the 2025 MAAC Volleyball All-Academic Team. To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
