Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

High Point Rolls Past Men’s Basketball

High Point shot 58.1 percent from the field and made 13 3-point field goals en route to 93-50 win over Canisius in non-conference men's basketball action Monday night at the Qubein Center in High Point, N.C.

The Panthers improved to 4-1 on the season with the victory, while the Golden Griffins slipped 2-3 with the loss.

Four High Point players scored double-figures in the win, led by Rob Martin, who scored a game-high 17 points. Martin also dished out eight assists and collected five steals for the Panthers. Chase Johnson chipped in 15 points after he went 5-for-12 from 3-point land.

Freshman Chris Kumu led Canisius with nine points, four rebounds and two steals, while junior Kahlil Singleton added eight points, four boards, an assist and a steal. Junior Bryan Ndjonga had seven points and five rebounds and freshman Brendan Oliver came off the bench to score six points and grab five rebounds.

For the game, Canisius shot just 30.6 percent (15-for-49) from the floor, with four of those 15 made field goals coming from 3-point land. The difference in the game was Canisius' inability to hold on to the basketball, as Canisius turned the ball over a season-high 21 times, which High Point converted into 23 points.

High Point took control of the game early on the power of a 24-6 run over the span of 10:51 that pushed the Panthers' lead to 26-9 with 7:30 left in the opening half. High Point took a 46-17 lead into the locker room at halftime.
