Men’s Soccer Falls in Road Contest to Mount St. Mary’s

Graham Dougald scored the only goal in the contest after converting a penalty kick in the 83rd minute to lift Mount St. Mary's to a 1-0 victory over Canisius in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men's soccer action Wednesday at the Waldron Family Stadium in Emmitsburg, Md.

Dougald recorded his fifth goal of the season late in the second half to lift the Mountaineers (3-7-5, 3-4-1 MAAC) to the victory. Julian Marcos got the start between the pipes for Mount St. Mary's, making three saves to record his third clean sheet of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Preston Harold got the start in net for Canisius (4-9-1, 2-6 MAAC), making six saves.

After a scoreless first half, Canisius threatened to break the deadlock in the 46th minute, when sophomore Romero Nicolazzo found fellow sophomore Gianni Angaran unmarked at the top of the box. Angaran fired a shot, but Marcos got just enough of it to make the save and keep the game knotted at 0-0.

The Mountaineers broke the scoreless tie in the 83rd minute as Kiryl Dubins was called for a foul in the box that led to the penalty kick goal from Graham Dougald to lead Mount St. Mary's to victory.
