Men’s Soccer Falls to Manhattan

Henry Hamilton scored the lone goal in the contest in the 49th minute to lift Manhattan to a 1-0 victory over Canisius in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men's soccer action Saturday at the Demske Sports Complex in Buffalo, N.Y.
 
Hamilton notched his third goal of the campaign in the second half to lift the Jaspers (4-7-2, 3-3-1 MAAC) to the victory. Ludvig Malberg got the start in net for the Jaspers and made two saves to post his fourth shutout of the season.
 
Graduate goalkeeper Dom Dominguez got the start in net for the Griffs (4-8-1, 2-5-0 MAAC, making four saves in the contest.
 
In a scoreless first half, the Griffs came close to an opening tally in the 40th minute as the shot from Gabriel Leslie missed a shot to the right of the Manhattan goal to keep the game scoreless.
 
The only goal in the contest came in the 49th minute as a shot from James Lucas hit the woodwork and found the foot of Hamilton, who put the ball into the net and gave the Jaspers the 1-0 victory.
 
GAME NOTES
• Saturday's contest marked the 35th all-time meeting between the two programs, with Manhattan now leading the series by a 19-12-4 margin.
• Canisius outshot Manhattan by a 12-11 margin, highlighted by a 5-4 advantage in the first half.
• Canisius led the match with 10 corner kicks, compared to five for Manhattan.
• Six Griffs played the full 90 minutes - Dominguez, seniors Josh Miller and Kyle Pollard, sophomore Gianni Angaran and freshmen Henrique Dias and Kiryl Dubins.

UP NEXT
Canisius returns to the road for a MAAC contest at Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday. Kick-off in Emmitsburg, Md. is set for 4 p.m.
