Cross Country Travels to Lehigh for the Paul Short Run

The Canisius men's and women's cross country team continues their season Friday at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh. The men's team is taking part in the gold division, racing at 11:00 a.m., with the women's team racing in the brown division at 2:45 p.m.

The Golden Griffins are set to make their 15th consecutive appearance at the event. Last season, the men's team placed 11th and the women's team secured 13th for a pair of top-15 finishes.

On the men's side, racing in the gold division this year, the Griffs return three of their top five finishers from last season. Senior Kyle Urban (25:21.5/24th), junior Joseph Capuzzo (26:07.7/75th), and senior Brody Jones (26:22.6/106th).

The women's team returns a duo of top finishers for the Griffs. Sophomores Ella Krumpek (23:03.5/89th) and Clara Sundberg (23:48.3/168th), finished within the top 170 finishers last season.

Both teams competed at the National Catholic Invitational in South Bend, Ind., hosted by Notre Dame on Sept. 19. The men's team posted a sixth-place finish, as the women placed seventh.

Urban paced the men's team with a 15th-place finish, posting a time of 24:46.4. Jones (25:21.0/24th), freshman Daniel Granville (26:15.2/41st), and sophomores Fenway Breckels (26:33.6/50th) and Ryan Giglia (26:36.6/54th) all placed within the top 55 finishers.

On the women's side, Sundberg paced the women's team, finishing with a time of 19:00.7 and placing 36th. Freshman Julia Gullo (19:23.5/43rd) and junior Brooke Podgorski (20:07.6/57th) also placed within the top 60 runners.
