Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Silenced by Marist

Marist tallied a goal in each half and Maddy Catalanotti stopped all four shots she faced to guide the Red Foxes to a 2-0 victory over Canisius in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's soccer action Saturday afternoon at Tenney Stadium in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Olivia Lindsay and Gabby Tirado scored the two goals for the Red Foxes (6-6-4, 5-1-4 MAAC), who moved into a tie for third place in the league standings with the victory.

Freshman keeper Chloe Tseros finished with six saves for the Golden Griffins (5-8-1, 5-5-1 MAAC).

Lindsay opened the scoring in the 29th minute, rocketing a loose ball into the upper left-hand corner of the net from the middle of the box to give the Red Foxes the lead.

Tirado doubled the Marist margin in the 54th minute when she capitalized on a Canisius turnover to notch her team-leading seventh goal of the campaign, which made the score 2-0 in favor of the home team.

That would be all the support that Catalanotti and the Marist defense would need, as the Red Foxes recorded their fourth shutout of the season.
