Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Defeats Mount St. Mary’s

Sophomore Azaria Fagan scored the game's lone goal the 66th minute and freshman keeper Chloe Tseros recorded her third shutout of the season to guide Canisius to a 1-0 victory over Mount St. Mary's in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's soccer action Wednesday at the Demske Sports Complex.

Fagan notched her second goal of the campaign midway through the second half to help the Golden Griffins (5-7-1, 5-3-1 MAAC) halt a four-game winless skid. Tseros finished with two saves to post her third shutout of the campaign, all of which have come in league play.

Abigil Makela recorded 12 saves in goal for the Mountaineers (3-11-1, 1-8-1 MAAC).

Senior Skylar Cornell nearly got Canisius on the board in the 23rd minute, but her shot from just outside the box found the crossbar before being cleared away by a Mount St. Mary's defender.

Fagan broke the deadlock in the 66th minute as she collected senior Mia Iacona's cross in the middle of the box before deking past a defender and firing a shot under a diving Makela to put the Griffs in front.

That would be all the support that Tseros and the Canisius defense needed as they limited The Mount to just three shot attempts over the remainder of regulation to secure the win.
