Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Quinnipiac Blanks Women's Soccer

Quinnipiac's Morgan Cupo scored two goals and goalkeeper Olivia Jarvis recorded her first career shutout to lead the host Bobcats to a 2-0 victory over Canisius in MAAC women's soccer action Saturday afternoon in Hamden, Conn.

The win, which extended Quinnipiac's unbeaten streak to nine-straight games, improved the team to 5-3-5 overall and 5-0-4 in MAAC play, while the Golden Griffins slipped to 4-7-1 overall and 4-3-1 in MAAC action.

Cupo, who entered the game ranked among the top-10 in the MAAC in both goals and shots on goal, put her team up 1-0 in the ninth minute off an assist from teammate Madison Alves. Despite out-shooting Quinnipiac 5-2 in the opening 45 minutes, Cupo's first goal was more than enough to send the Bobcats into the locker room at halftime up 1-0.

In the second half, Canisius forced Jarvis to make both her saves in the game's final 20 minutes, but could not beat the sophomore keeper. Cupo capped the day's scoring after she beat Canisius goalkeeper Chloe Tseros for her team-leading seventh goal of the season in the contest's 79th minute to make the score 2-0.

Canisius outshot Quinnipiac 9-8 for the game while the Bobcats held a 6-5 advantage in corner kick opportunities.
