Golf Sits in Eighth After Two Rounds at Colonel Shootout

The Canisius golf team sits in eighth place with a 36-hole score of 589 after the first two rounds of the Colonel Shootout, played Saturday at the University Club at Arlington in Richmond, Ky. The Golden Griffins posted a team score of 298 in the first round and then moved up one spot on the leaderboard with a team score of 291 in the second round.

Sophomore Jake Dantonio is one of five golfers in the field tied for 25th after two rounds with his score of 147, which is one over par. In the second round, Dantonio fired a one-under par score of 70, his lowest career score as a Griff. Senior Ryan Edholm closed out the first day of the two-day tournament with a score of 145, highlighted by a second-round 68, which was three-under par. For Edholm, that 68 marked the sixth time in his collegiate career where he shot in the 60s.

Host Eastern Kentucky leads the team portion of the tournament after day one, as the Colonels posted a team score of 548, which is 20 strokes under par. Vanderbilt's Ben Loomis is the tournament's leader after he shot eight under (134) through 36 holes.

The third and final round of the Colonel Shootout is set to tee off at 9 a.m., on Sunday.
