Golf Ties for Ninth at Colgate

The Canisius golf team tied for ninth with a two-round score of 594 as the Golden Griffins wrapped up the first season of the fall schedule at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Sunday at Seven Oaks Golf Club in Hamilton, N.Y.

Canisius, which finished tied in the 15-team field with Binghamton, was the lowest scoring MAAC school among the three in the field, and finished just one stroke behind long-time rival St. Bonaventure.

Senior Ryan Edholm shot a one-under 71 on Sunday to finish in a seven-way tie for 12th in the field with a two-round score of 145. One of the seven golfers Edholm was tied with was sophomore teammate Alex Schickling, who posted a 73 in the second round after firing an even-par 72 on Saturday.

Navy and Seton Hall shared the team championship with a two-round team score of 573, which was three under par. Villanova's Ryan Palmer, who shot a five-under 67 on Saturday, won individual medalist honors with a tournament score of 138 after he shot 71 on Sunday.

The Canisius golf team will return to action Sept. 7-8 when the team travels to The Colonel Shootout, hosted by Eastern Kentucky, in Richmond, Ky.
